Responsible Hosting

Our commitment to creating safe, welcoming spaces for airline crew.

Required

Safety Standards

Required

Smoke Detectors

Functioning smoke detectors on every level and in every sleeping area.

Required

Carbon Monoxide Detector

CO detectors installed per local regulations, especially near fuel-burning appliances.

Required

Fire Extinguisher

At least one accessible, charged fire extinguisher in a visible location.

Recommended

First Aid Kit

A well-stocked first aid kit readily available for guests.

Required

Emergency Exits

All emergency exits clearly marked and unobstructed at all times.

Required

Clean Premises

Clean, well-maintained premises with no health or structural hazards.

These are minimum requirements for all CrewNest listings. Failure to maintain these standards may result in listing suspension.

Non-Discrimination Policy

CrewNest hosts must welcome all verified crew members regardless of race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or any other protected characteristic.

We have zero tolerance for discrimination.

Any host found to be discriminating against guests on the basis of protected characteristics will have their listing immediately suspended and their account subject to permanent removal. CrewNest is built on the aviation community's tradition of mutual respect and professionalism.

Accurate Listings

Your listing description and photos must accurately represent the space. Crew members rely on your listing to make informed booking decisions, often from thousands of miles away.

Misleading listings will be suspended pending review.

  • Use recent, high-quality photos that show the actual space guests will use
  • List all amenities accurately — do not claim amenities you do not provide
  • Describe the sleeping arrangement truthfully (private room, shared room, hot bed)
  • Disclose any known issues or limitations (construction, noise, parking restrictions)

Communication Standards

Response Time

Respond to all booking requests and guest messages within 24 hours. Faster response times lead to better reviews and more bookings.

Professional Tone

Keep all communications professional and courteous. Crew members are aviation professionals who deserve the same respect.

Privacy Boundaries

Do not share personal contact information (phone numbers, email addresses, social media) outside the CrewNest platform until a booking is confirmed. This protects both you and your guests.

Cancellation Responsibilities

Host-initiated cancellations are disruptive to crew members who depend on confirmed housing. CrewNest takes host cancellations seriously.

Host Cancellation Penalties

  • Your host rating will be negatively impacted
  • A cancellation fee may be charged depending on timing
  • Repeated cancellations can lead to listing suspension or account removal

If you must cancel due to an emergency, contact CrewNest support immediately. We will work to rebook the guest and minimize disruption. Keep your availability calendar accurate to prevent overbooking.

Legal Compliance

Hosts are responsible for ensuring their listings comply with all applicable laws and regulations. CrewNest is a platform and does not provide legal advice.

Local Zoning Laws

Verify that short-term rentals are permitted in your area. Some municipalities require permits or have restrictions.

HOA/Condo Rules

Check your HOA or condo association rules regarding short-term rentals. Some associations prohibit or restrict them.

Tax Obligations

Report hosting income to tax authorities. You may owe local, state, and federal taxes. Stripe provides annual tax documents.

Insurance

Notify your insurance provider about hosting activity. Consider additional liability coverage or a dedicated short-term rental policy.

Reporting Issues

If you experience guest misconduct, property damage, or any safety concerns, report the issue promptly through the CrewNest platform.

How to Report Guest Misconduct

Use the "Report" button on the guest's profile or within the booking details. Provide a detailed description and photos if applicable. All reports are confidential.

How CrewNest Handles Disputes

Our dispute resolution team reviews both sides, examines evidence, and makes a fair determination. Disputes are typically resolved within 5-7 business days.
